Below is a Proposal that could significantly
Reduce Traffic in The Rancho Higuera
Neighborhood returning it to
the Peaceful and Safe Place it Once Was!

This is an idea that has been suggested at various City Meetings in the past,
but will only be considered seriously if there is enough support from the Rancho Higuera Residents
as well as the Hayden Tract Industrial Area.

If there is enough interest, there is a good chance we can remove MOST of the traffic
from our residential area which  has increased significantly
due to the new developments in the Hayden Tract Industrial Area and the huge success of the the downtown area
which now boasts some of the best restaurants in Los Angeles.

As you can see below, this is a Win-Win situation for both the Residents and the Hayden Tract Industrial Area.

Firstly, where is Rancho Higuera?

What is the Problem Right Now?

What is the Solution to Removing the Traffic from Rancho Higuera Neighborhood?
Pretty Simple - Only Three Cul De Sacs Required - Inexpensive Project!

This would keep Industrial/Commercial Traffic OFF our Residential Streets by Routing the Traffic AROUND Us!

areas and that they could easily be separated.

Reasons why this is a Win-Win Situation for BOTH the Ranscho Higuera Residents AND the Hayden Tract Industrial Area:

(a) Hayden Tract Industrial Area may be limiting its growth due to the City not approving certain projects due to increased traffic complaints from the Rancho Higuera Neighborhood  Residents - Causing them frustration in their attempt to expand their businesses.

(b) Rancho Higuera Residents are currently frustrated with the huge volumes of traffic through their area caused by the surrounding industrial areas, which will increase dramatically in future. This could significantly impact the safety of the area, cause more noise/polution and reduce property values.

(c) Although the diverters could cause a minor inconvenience for BOTH the Hayden Track Industrial Area and the Rancho Higuera Residential Neighborhood, the benefits of isolating these two COMPLETELY INCOMPATIBLE areas will allow them to co-exist in a way where each could have what it needs: A safe, peaceful environment for the residents and a vibrant industrial area for the businesses - without negatively effecting each other.

(d) Since only THREE Cul De Sacs would be required to implement this project, it should be very inexpensive and something the City could easily afford!

Conclusion:
However, this idea could only be implemented if enough residents in the Ranscho Higuera Residental Area and Hayden Tract Businesses are interested in taking it to the NEXT STEP - which would be forming an active movement to work with Culver City.

For those concerned that perhaps the Cul De Sacs will create unknown new issues, please be assured that the City will never make a plan like this permanent unless it is first tested with temporary barriers. They will need to count the traffic on the various streets to ensure that everything works as intended. Even then, if there are issues, there may still be ways to remedy them before "giving up" entirely.

Furthermore, some residents have expressed concerns regarding emergency vehicles having access to their area due to the Cul De Sacs. This is a real concern and there are ways to enable emergency vehicles over these "barriers" while restricting everyday traffic - All this would naturally have to be worked out to make the proposal acceptable to everyone.

Please be aware that there is also a Yahoo Group Discussion taking place regarding issues in the Rancho Higuera Neighborhood in which you can participate and make your views known. To find out more, Click Here and sign-up to become a member of that group.

If after reviewing all the above you are interested in joining a movement which will take this to the "Next Step", please complete the form below and we will keep you informed of future developments.  Remember that unless there is enough interest in the proposal, it is doubtful whether anything will change and then there would be every reason to expect things to get worse in future.
